Social Media Policy

The Rail Ombudsman uses social media to engage with audiences and share information about our services with consumers and stakeholders.

Our X account (@RailOmbudsman) is managed by our communications staff and monitored during normal working hours (Monday – Friday, 0900 – 1700). We read all @replies and Direct Messages and aim to respond as much as possible.

Purpose of Social Media

We use social media to talk about our work, promote events and updates, engage with stakeholders, and pass on relevant information. It complements our website by directing users to more in-depth resources.

Engagement & Conduct

We encourage respectful conversations but do not tolerate offensive or abusive comments. We reserve the right to remove content that violates our policy or legal obligations.

• No abusive, obscene, or offensive language • No defamatory or harassing remarks • No discriminatory content • No excessive links or spam • No sharing of personal or confidential information

Retweets & Following

We may retweet relevant content, but retweets do not imply endorsement. Following an account does not mean we support their views.

Privacy & Data

Users should avoid sharing personal information in public discussions. Any personal data shared with us is handled according to our data retention policies.

Now that you know more, are you ready to raise your complaint with us?
